Yoga isn’t just something you do, it’s something you feel; a deep connection; a warmth spreading from your heart all the way through your body; the beating of your heart in the silence and stillness of meditation. Yoga should start at the heart. Students will explore the essential principle of Strength/Receiving in Yoga and Life, the practice and process of nurturing and also form a clear understanding for why Yoga should start at the heart.
Mark Whitwell is interested in developing an authentic yoga practice for the individual, based on the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar, with whom he enjoyed a relationship for more than twenty years. He was also the editor and contributor to TKV Desikachar’s book. Mark’s teachings clarify the profound passion and relevance of ancient wisdom to contemporary life and he has taught yoga for over twenty years throughout the US, Asia, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
Mark teaches Ha-Tha Yoga which against common understanding means all physical forms of yoga practice, not a specific “style”. Hatha means the merging of the sun and moon, the male and female, prana and apana, and is a purificating and re-balancing practice where breath and body movement are one.
