7 Week Yoga Intermediate Course – Deepen Your Practice

Thursday 3 August – 14 September 6.15 pm – 7.30 pm

There are many ways to deepen your practice from holding postures longer, to exploring more advanced postures that require greater strength, flexibility, coordination and nervous system resilience.  Beyond attaining physical prowess lies the dimension of the mind.  The store-house of samskaras – impressions that make up our way of perceiving and experiencing life.

With a skilful approach and guidance asanas can become the medium not only of physical release and unwinding but to unearth the roots of dis-ease and imbalance. The power of the breath as a living current of transformational energy is used to heighten and guide the experience of un-earthing deeper held tensions – samskaras. Cultivating the ability to ‘observe’ without judgement or analysis is a key skill that will be developed enabling you to ‘live your yoga’ outside of the classroom.

  • Asanas – Held longer to develop core strength, layered with chakra awareness and mantras
  • Pranayama – integrated into movement and stand- alone techniques
  • Meditation – cultivate ‘seeing without reacting’
  • Deep relaxation – Yoga nidra

Monthly Kirtan Night – free event

Every 2nd Tuesday of the month 7.30 pm – 9.00 pm

No need to book in, just bring yourself, your smile and if you play, an instrument is more than welcome! Kirtan means ‘free the mind’ and is part of the yoga practice we call bhakti yoga (devotional yoga). By chanting mantras you create a sound vibration in your body and it is a beautiful way to open your heart. As you sing with each other you experience a deep connection with yourself and the other kirtanists. Kirtan has roots in India, so many of the songs are in Sanskrit. This allows you to immerse in the sound, no words to distract the mind. The magic of the chants can then carry you within where connection with peace and positivity are inevitable. Ohhhmmmmmmmm.
