Connecting Kids with Nature?
There is increasing research that shows that children who spend time in nature have amazing benefits.
The term nature deficit disorder has been given to the phenomenon of children spending less time in nature and more time using devices, watching TV, etc. This has been found to increase the likelihood of depression, anxiety and attention deficit disorder and other problems. If we want to support our children to grow into healthy, happy and productive young adults, we need to balance screen time with opportunities to play in nature.

Some of the tremendous gains that have been found through research are:
• Great improvement in physical and emotional health
• Improved academic performance and concentration
• More imagination and creativity
• Coping better with stress and adversity in life
• Reduction or elimination of bullying
• Improvement in the development of independence and autonomy
• Builds confidence
• Greater development of respect and responsibility for the earth.
