In the 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Kawai Purapura students learn the foundations of classical Hatha yoga. Hatha yoga is the branch of yoga that is preoccupied with the physical aspect of yoga, such as Asana (poses), Pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation. These components are developed systematically during the training. Many modern yoga styles such as Vinyasa, Yin or Bikram derive from Hatha yoga. Students training in classical Hatha lay a solid foundation for their teaching. In the training students experience taster classes of other yoga styles to inspire and reflect on.
What stands out about training at Kawai Purapura Yoga School is the traditional branches of yoga that students get to experience. We teach an integrated approach that understands yoga as a lifestyle, not a practice. Students experience the richness of yoga that goes way beyond the mat; Mantra & Kirtan (Bhakti yoga), yoga for mind management (Raja yoga: the eight limbs of yoga), yoga for self-development (Jnana yoga) and yoga of action (Karma yoga). Yogic principles & yoga philosophy are applied to everyday life and make this training a transformative experience
