As we enter the hottest season of the year, it’s important to stay cool, relaxed, and hydrated, and what better way than eating some of the healthiest (and most delicious) foods of the summer?
Foods to keep you cool:
Cold salads – A great way to pack in a whole bunch of vitamins, minerals, and refreshing tastes. Try sprinkling some goji berries or seeds on top to add a bit of crunch.
Yogurt – Try freezing it for a cool alternative to sugary ice creams or add some to your fruit smoothies. In summer, smoothie bowls are the perfect pick for brunch.
Iced green tea – Drinking this super-drink cold doesn’t take away any of its benefits, just pop in a couple of ice cubes and maybe some fresh mint!
Foods to help you relax:
Honeydew – This isn’t just a tasty treat, it’s high in Vitamin C to reduce stress.
Avocado – In addition to the healthy fat and protein avocados give us, did you know the Vitamin B also promotes healthy nerves and brain cells?
Blueberries and Strawberries – These bite-size berries do many things for us, including promoting blood flow which actually reduces sensitivity to light, perfect for the sun!
Foods to stay hydrated:
Watermelon – easily the best food to keep us hydrated as it’s 92% H20!
Oranges – Did you know that oranges are 80% water? That’s why they’re so good freshly squeezed.
Cucumbers – You can chop these for salads, add them to water, or cut them up to dunk in some dips.
