The Programme

The programme will start off with a focus on Ayurvedic traditional medicine and you will quickly come to understand why it remains one of the country’s primary health care systems . Ayurveda is holistic in nature focusing on more than just the symptoms at the current state, but rather goes beyond focusing upon treatment and prevention of illnesses utilising herbal compounds, special diets, Ayurvedic lifestyle, and Ayurvedic treatments and massages. Each day you will ignite your Agni (digestive fire) to start off the cleansing and detoxification, learn about the philosophy and science of Ayurveda, be nourished by Ayurvedic vegetarian food, learn from your new tribe during open discussions, discover practical advice on doshas and how to live your life in harmony according to the doshas, and master practical skills in introducing an Ayurvedic Detox into your daily life. Further into the retreat you will combine the powerful forces of Ayurveda and Yoga together! Each day you will stretch and strengthen with a delicious Yoga practice, invite the prana (life force) in with energetic, yet calming breath work, indulge in Kriya Yoga intentionally using movements to move towards a specific outcome, learn new mantra and healing chants to sing your heart bright, engage in discussion groups, enjoy nourishing Ayurvedic vegetarian meals utilising fresh produce from Kawai Purapura’s garden, mindful meditation, yoga nidra, Shamanic journey, Ayurvedic treatment and massages, and more surprises to come! Shailendra will guide you through specialised yoga sessions to deepen your practice using traditional Vedic Yoga, encompassing a holistic approach and drawing upon the practices from a variety of different yoga lineages, all of which are selected to assist the students in achieving the capacity to reach stillness, peace, and inner strength. Shailendra will also lead the group through different traditions such as Yoga Nidra, meditation, Pranayama, Kirtan and Satsang. The days will all be filled with love, good vibes, and nourishing vegetarian food to feed your soul.

About Shailendra

Shailendra Singh Negi, was born in Rishikesh, India, on the banks of the holy river Ganga at the foot of the Himalayas.

Although he progressed through the modern education system and completed a University degree in Accounting, it was not long before he moved away from his profession to follow his passion for a yogic lifestyle. His qualifications include classical yoga therapy, yoga philosophy, nutrition, naturopathy and Ayurveda therapy.

Shailendra’s passion is his desire for students to experience rather than simply study yoga. The content of his spontaneous philosophy classes cannot be read in books as his teachings are integrated from his own personal experience and knowledge that has been passed down through generations from the traditional Vedic scriptures.

Shailendra does not practice or teach one specific style of yoga; rather, he focuses on the traditional practice of Vedic yoga which encompasses a holistic approach, combining the many different aspects of yoga, all of which aim to help students achieve the capacity to attain stillness and peace.

Ayurvedic Treatments

Ayurvedic Treatments are one of the essential components of Ayurveda with the main goal to prevent as well as promote the body’s capacity to achieve maintenance and balance through the physical, mental, spiritual and emotional levels. Through achieving this balance you will internalise this into long-lasting happiness and help, with the prevention of illnesses. Ayurveda recognises that each individual is characterised by different doshas depending upon the nature of your body and your own particular imbalances, this is why there is the option of having a full range of Ayurvedic therapies that are tailored to you. Your personalised Ayurvedic programme can include abhyanga massage, shirodhara, swedana, marma therapy, Indian head, hand or foot massage.
The Ayurvedic therapies are not included in the retreat fee and need to be booked separately. Swimming pool (non-chlorinated), infrared sauna and spa freely available.
